CleanAIR UniMask – Protective Visors

Versatile protection for any task.

The CleanAIR UniMask replacement visors are engineered to match the right protection to the right hazard. Whether the risk is flying debris, chemical splash, molten metal, or intense light, there is a visor in this range built for it.

Choose from toric or cylindrical designs across multiple materials and shade levels. Toric visors (polycarbonate only) deliver the highest optical quality for demanding environments involving heat and impact. Cylindrical visors offer class 1 optical clarity in polycarbonate for mechanical work, or cellulose propionate for chemical and spray applications.

DESCRIPTION

Toric vs Cylindrical: What is the difference?

The shape of a visor is not just cosmetic. It determines optical quality, the level of protection offered, and which work environments the visor is suited to.

Toric Visor (TR1):

  • Toric visors have a compound curve, meaning they curve in two directions simultaneously. This shape closely follows the natural curve of the eye, which eliminates distortion across the entire field of view. The result is the highest optical quality available in a replacement visor, with no visual fatigue during extended wear.
  • Toric visors are built for demanding environments involving heat, molten metals, or hot solids, and offer medium-energy particle protection.
  • Only available with polycarbonate construction.
  • Due to the curved shape of the visor, it is not compatible with the peel-off protective film.

Cylindrical Visor (CR1):

  • Cylindrical visors curve in one direction only, like a section of a tube. They offer class 1 optical quality and a wide field of vision, making them a reliable workhorse option for most workplace applications.
  • Available in two material options: polycarbonate and cellulose proprionate, making this option suitable for a broad range of hazards from mechanical work through to chemical handling.
  • Cylindrical visors are compatible with the peel-off protective film.

Polycarbonate vs Cellulose Proprionate: Choosing the right material

The key difference comes down to the hazard you are protecting against.

Polycarbonate:

  • Polycarbonate is a rigid, impact-resistant plastic that handles high-speed particles and extreme temperatures without degrading.
  • It is the material of choice for mechanical tasks like grinding, drilling, and sawing, where flying debris is the primary risk.
  • It is not well suited for prolonged chemical exposure, as harsh solvents can cause the lens surface to craze or cloud over time.

Cellulose Propionate:

  • Cellulose propionate is a semi-flexible plastic with very high chemical resistance. It holds up well against solvents, acids, and chemical sprays, making it the preferred option for painting and chemical handling applications.
  • It meets EN 166 mechanical strength requirements but is not rated for the same level of impact protection as polycarbonate, so it is not the right choice where flying debris is a concern.
