Description

  • If you store or use hazardous substances on site, you have a legal obligation to warn people entering our site. To do this you will need HAZCHEM signage at each point of pedestrian and vehicular entrance.
  • Suitable for gates / buildings / entrances / stationary tanks – as you get closer to the specific hazard the sign should be more specific and details.
  • When ordering you will need to specify exactly what you want on the sign.
  • Entrance / gate signage can be more general and typically includes:
    • HAZCHEM warning
    • Hazard diamonds corresponding to the substances on site
    • Your Company Name
    • Who to call in an emergency?
    • Optional extras include regional council contact, or company specific contacts and logos
  • As you get closer to where specific hazardous substance is stored or used (i.e. a building or stationary tank), then your HAZCHEM signage needs to get more specific and included specific precautionary instructions relevant to the substance and HAZCHEM Codes to tell responders what to do in the event of an emergency. For example, petrol stored in a stationary tank should have a sign that includes:
    • HAZCHEM warning
    • HAZCHEM code 3YE
    • Hazard diamonds: Flammable liquid, harmful toxic, chronic toxic and ecotoxic
    • UN Number: 1203 PG II
    • Common name: Petrol
    • Warnings and precautions:
      • FLAMMABLE LIQUID AND VAPOURS
      • NO SMOKING
      • NO NAKED FLAMES
      • HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED
      • IRRITATING TO SKIN AND EYES
      • MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO ORGANS
      • DO NOT RELEASE TO ENVIRONMENT
    • Emergency Contact details:
      • DIAL 111 FIRE, POLICE,  AMBULANCE,
