FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What type of industrial apparel does pH7 offer?

pH7 supplies a broad range of industrial safety apparel designed to protect workers from contamination, splashes, and environmental hazards across a variety of high-risk and controlled environments. Our apparel is engineered for comfort, durability, and compliance with AS/NZS and EN safety standards, ensuring reliable protection in every application.

Our industrial apparel range includes:

  • High-visibility vests and clothing – Certified to AS/NZS 4602.1:2011, providing enhanced visibility and safety in low-light or high-traffic work areas.
  • Protective hoods and headwear – Disposable and reusable options that safeguard against particulates, drips, and chemical splashes while maintaining breathability and comfort.
  • Safety glasses and goggles – Certified to AS/NZS 1337.1:2010, offering impact, chemical splash, and dust protection with anti-fog and scratch-resistant lens coatings.
  • Disposable headwear – Including crimp caps, bouffant caps, and beard covers for hygiene-sensitive environments such as food processing and laboratories.
  • Disposable clothing – Lightweight polypropylene and microporous garments, such as aprons, gowns, and sleeve protectors, designed for short-term use where contamination control is essential.
  • Disposable shoe covers – Waterproof or non-slip polyethylene options that prevent cross-contamination and maintain cleanroom or site hygiene.

Each item in our industrial apparel range is selected to meet the demands of New Zealand industries, from manufacturing and logistics to laboratory, food handling, and chemical work environments. Whatever your application, our apparel solutions deliver full-body protection, compliance, and comfort for safer worksites.

Is your industrial apparel suitable for food processing and manufacturing environments?

Yes, pH7’s industrial apparel range includes garments specifically designed for hygiene-critical environments such as food processing, packaging, and clean manufacturing facilities. These products help maintain contamination control, worker protection, and regulatory compliance throughout production areas.

Our apparel options for these settings include:

These products are suitable for use in food manufacturing, laboratories, pharmaceutical production, and general hygiene-controlled operations.

Our team can assist in selecting fit-for-purpose apparel combinations that ensure both worker comfort and site compliance.

Can your industrial apparel be worn over other PPE?

Yes, our industrial apparel is specifically designed for compatibility and layering with other forms of personal protective equipment (PPE). Many garments are ergonomically designed and generously sized to allow unrestricted movement when worn over base uniforms or additional protective gear such as respirators, gloves, harnesses, and chemical coveralls.

Our disposable and reusable garments feature elasticated cuffs, ankles, and waists, ensuring a secure seal around other PPE components while maintaining wearer comfort and barrier integrity. The seam placement and fabric selection minimise restriction and prevent interference with critical PPE interfaces such as respirator face seals, safety eyewear, and harness anchor points.

This makes our industrial apparel ideal for multi-stage or high-risk environments. For example, when workers transition between chemical handling, maintenance, or confined-space operations and require different PPE layers throughout the day.

All our garments ensure full-body protection and regulatory compliance without compromising comfort or mobility.

How should I dispose of single-use industrial apparel safely?

Single-use industrial apparel should always be disposed of in accordance with site safety procedures, waste management policies, and WorkSafe NZ hazardous substance guidelines. Correct disposal prevents cross-contamination, environmental release, and accidental exposure to hazardous materials.

For non-contaminated apparel (such as general hygiene or cleanroom garments):

  • Dispose of garments in general waste or recycling streams if the material type allows and local recycling facilities accept them.
  • If recycling is not an option, place them in a designated PPE waste bin for landfill disposal.

For contaminated or hazardous apparel (e.g. exposed to chemicals, oils, biological agents, or asbestos):

  • Treat all used garments as hazardous waste and place them immediately into sealed, clearly labelled disposal bags or containers at the point of removal.
  • Use double-bagging for high-risk materials or wet contamination.
  • Dispose of sealed waste via a licensed hazardous waste contractor in accordance with HSNO (1996) and WorkSafe NZ requirements.
  • Never attempt to launder or reuse disposable garments that have been exposed to hazardous substances.

Best practice:

  • Remove disposable PPE in a designated doffing area to avoid secondary contamination.
  • Wash hands and exposed skin thoroughly after removing PPE.
  • Maintain a waste tracking record for regulated substances to ensure full compliance with site and environmental obligations.
